Human Resources and Finance

Every successful organisation needs effective Human Resources and Administration to keep its operations running smoothly. The main goal of the Human Resources and Administration team at the Attorney General’s Office is to fullfil staffing needs while creating and maintaining a positive work environment for all the employees. We are currently a team of 3 individuals in the HR and Admin section as well as 2 individuals in the Accounts section. The team is currently being led by a Senior Human Resources Budget Management Officer and our main responsibilities are:

  • Effective management of the office;
  • Provide support service to all section of the Department;
  • Process and monitor staff movement cases;
  • Ensure efficient and proper maintenance of all equipment’s belonging to the Department;
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and have adequate and valid comprehensive insurance, valuation certificate and licenses whenever applicable;
  • Maintain staff personal files and update staff personal cards, plan staff’s due leave and ensure that proper leave charts are kept;
  • Ensure that employees are yearly appraised;
  • Process recommendation or appointment, promotion, retirement, dismissal, resignation, compensation, gratuities, recruitment and selection of personnel in conducting interviews;
  • Advise the Attorney General on disciplinary action and implement procedures e.g. dealing with grievances;
  • Update file on training opportunities for the staff, in consultation with the Attorney General;
  • Prepare the monthly payroll amendments in consultation with Treasury department at the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Planning;
  • Prepare job advertisement for vacant post, screening application, shortlisting candidate, conducting interview and proper selection;
  • Ensure that rules and regulations are applied as and when required and also interpret and advise employee on employment law and the PSO;
  • Ensure the safekeeping of personal records and the employee themselves;
  • Collection of gazette revenues;
  • Ensure that all payments are being processed and made on time monthly or as and when required;
  • Ensure the funds allocated in the department’s budget are being used in a proper manner.
